Home Based Services

The Florence Crittenton Agency’s inhome services program to assist families with children in crisis with the overall purpose of preserving the family unit. This program serves Knox County and all surrounding East Tennessee Counties.

Home Based Prevention and Reunification Services

This program is designed to serve males and females at any age, who are in immediate risk of coming into state custody, or to provide reunification services where the initial adjustment to home or foster home may be in jeopardy due to the explosive behavioral and/or emotional nature of the youth. Youth currently at-risk with the juvenile justice system for status offenses will also be eligible for this service.

Secondly, this program is designed to meet the needs of more stable families who are facing a crisis and need some assistance in meeting the needs of their child. These youth will be deemed at immediate risk of entering custody and might be currently at-risk with the juvenile justice system. The need for behavioral, educational, and emotional support will be deemed the primary need for intervention. Alcohol and drug experimentation with the potential for more serious involvement will be an appropriate referral.

The comprehensive range of services to meet needs of clients will include inter-agency coordination, school advocacy, mental health referral and support, alcohol and drug assessment, behavioral management assessment and planning, independent living assessment and planning, family advocacy and referral, transportation coordination, and other services deemed necessary.

Respite Care for Home Based Services

FCA will provide respite care for up to 72 hours to adolescent females; pregnant, new teen parent, and non-pregnant ages 13 through 17. The option to transfer to another of FCA programs will be available.

FCA Counseling Service for Home Based Services

Additional services available will be psychosocial counseling for youth who are at-risk of coming into state custody or youth who have just been reunified after being in state custody.

Counseling sessions will be provided to assist the youth and the family to address the issues identified in the service plan. Services will be designed to maximize the benefit to the youth and minimize the need for other types of interventions. Independent living skills and support, parenting education and support, educational support, and other services deemed necessary will be provided.

These services will include all aspects of preparation for labor and delivery, child development information, developmental assessments, parenting skills, stress management, educational support, etc. This service is available through school-based groups, individual and family home visits, and advocacy with the community.

This care will be available in varying degrees of intensity throughout the teen’s pregnancy and during the first year of parenting.

Pregnant and parenting teens will be offered a wide variety of services during their pregnancy and for the first three months of parenting. Non-pregnant teens will be served to assess, educate, and refer to other providers. If alcohol and drug services are part of the entire need for intervention, these issues will be assessed and added to our other types of intervention.
