The Florence Crittenton Agency’s Foster Care services provide safe, stable, nurturing homes for children and teens. Drawing on the resources and experience of the FCA service spectrum, the Foster Care program specializes in working with children and youth with “non-traditional” needs—including children whose families are in crisis, young people with emotional or behavioral issues, older adolescents, and sibling sets.
Children in the Foster Care Program are referred from many different channels. Typically, though, FCA works with kids:
· Who are in a transitioning period, whose families are in a time of crisis;
· Who have emotional or behavioral issues;
· Who are pregnant and unable to stay in their homes;
· Who are teenagers and sibling sets.
The need is great, and Florence Crittenton trains and works closely with qualified foster families throughout East Tennessee. Our foster parents understand the challenges of fostering, and are committed to providing a nurturing environment that supports the long term success of the young people we serve.
Maybe. The State of Tennessee is responsible for setting policies and guidelines regarding foster care. In order to ensure that all foster children receive the care and support they need, the state has established a few requirements. In order to be an FCA foster parent, you must:
· Reside in Tennessee
· Be employed or have another source of viable income
· Have adequate space in your home for a child or children
· Have a working automobile, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance
· Have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance
· Complete 30 hours of required PATH (Parents as Tender Healers) training.
If you can answer “yes, that is me,” to all of these points, then we would strongly encourage you to get in touch with Karen Partridge, FCA’s foster care recruiter, for more information:

FCA provides training, 24 hour on-call support, two days of respite care a month, and approximately $1,000 in monthly tax-free reimbursements for foster families. FCA’s foster children receive individual therapy and counseling, a stable home, and a chance to be kids.
